Prima apparizione nota di Rosa Porten, in coppia con la sorella minore Henny: interpretano due bambole di porcellana che una volta scartate prendono vita. È uno dei Tonbilder creati per la compagnia di Messter da Franz Porten, padre di Henny e Rosa: si trattava di brevi fi sincronizzati con pezzi musicali suonati da un grammofono. Il disco è ritenuto perduto, ma si pensa che le due sorelle cantassero i versi di Leo Herzberg su musica di Carl Alfredy.

Earliest known screen performance by Rosa Porten, in tandem with her younger sister Henny Porten. They enact porcelain dolls which come to life once they have been unwrapped. This was one of the Tonbilder made by their father Franz Porten for Messter's: filmed scenes accompanying sung couplets which were played from a record. The record is presumed lost, but it is assumed that Rosa Porten and Henny Porten sang the couplet by Leo Herzberg on music by Carl Alfredy.

Commedia molto divertente in cui un gentiluomo porta a casa una bimba smarritasi nella foresta e innesca una serie di errate congetture da parte della moglie. Rosa Porten è la moglie, Henny la sua migliore amica, la bimba è una delle sorelle Müller, Lotte o Hilde, che interpretarono ruoli infantili in molti film muti tedeschi.


Very amusing comedy in which a child lost in the forest and taken home by a gentleman triggers a series of mistaken conjectures on the part of his wife. Rosa Porten plays the wife, Henny Porten her best friend, the child is one of the sisters Lotte or Hilde Müller who played children's roles in numerous German silent films.

'Dr. R. Portegg' con Rosa Porten nel ruolo della protagonista è purtroppo incompleto.È però una gioia osservare le audaci burle che Isa mette in atto per liberarsi del proprietario terriero con cui suo padre vorrebbe farla fidanzare. La ragazza incarna con gusto ogni possibile luogo comune sulle goffe ragazze di campagna, facendo sì che il fidanzato designato riveli la propria vera natura di rammollito moralista incapace di affrontare i propri problemi (motivo ricorrente nei film comici e drammatici di Rosa Porten). Il ruolo comprende un divertente travestimento da uomo con tutti i colpi di scena previsti dal genere.


This Dr. R. Portegg-film with Rosa Porten in the leading role unfortunately is incomplete. But what a joy to watch Isa's plucky pranks to shake off the landowner whom her father favors as her fiancée. With gusto she acts out every possible cliché about unwieldy country girls, exposing her intended fiancée as an wimpy prig, who does not know how to handle his own problems (a recurring motif in dramas and comedies written by Rosa Porten). The role includes an appealing cross-dressing part with comical twists and turns implied in the genre.

Questa commedia quasi completa diretta da Dr. R. Portegg con Rosa Porten nel ruolo della protagonista è una scoperta recente e una rarità tra i film superstiti di Rosa Porten, che lo co-diresse e ne firmò la sceneggiatura. Rosa è l'artista di varietà Stella Orlanda, intrepida giovane che si destreggia tra la mentalità borghese e l'ampiezza di vedute propria della gente di teatro. Secondo "Der Film" (19 maggio 1917) la commedia satireggia entrambi gli atteggiamenti in un gran numero di situazioni semiserie. "Der Kinematograph" (9 maggio 1917) descrive la Stella interpretata da Rosa Porten come una giovane piena di temperamento, arguta e sbarazzina. Oltre all'interpretazione, la stampa lodò anche la composizione del film e il suo crescendo di comicità fino al divertentissimo momento culminante.


This nearly complete comedy directed by Dr. R. Portegg and with Rosa Porten as the protagonist is a most recent discovery and a rare item among the surviving Rosa Porten-films. Rosa Porten wrote, codirected and played the role of the variety artiste Stella Orlanda, a intrepid young woman manoeuvring between bourgeois mentality and the free spirit attributed to popular stage people. According to "Der Film" (19 May 1917) this comedy satirizes both attitudes in a great number of serious-comical situations. "Der Kinematograph" (9 May 1917) characterized Porten's Stella as full of temperament, witty and impish. In addition to the acting, the papers praised the composition of the film, in which the comic calibre increases with every scene and culminates a highly amusing climax.
