Nel 1914 Max Linder era il più famoso attor comico del cinema, l'incontestato Roi du rire, celebrato, emulato, imitato in tutto il mondo. La sua perfezione attinge alle stesse anti-leggi, ma lavorando nella direzione opposta, quella della vulnerabilità. Tre film di questo grande attore sono qui combinati con un panorama di scènes de ballet e di ballerine, da Mlle Consoli alla Karsavina. In 1914 the Tramp was born, an outcast, rendered magically invulnerable by the anti-laws of humour. In 1914 Max Linder was the cinema's most famous comedian, the uncontested Roi du Rire, celebrated, emulated, and imitated around the world. His perfection attracts the selfsame anti-laws, but working in the opposite direction, that of vulnerability. Three films of this great performer are combined with a panorama of scènes de ballet and Ballerinas, from Mlle. Consoli to La Karsavina. In the splendid finale we proudly present breathtaking numbers of the Six Dainef Sisters, known as Les Reines du Tapis.
